The Alliance of California Judges was formed on September 11, 2009, in response to an unprecedented financial crisis facing our judicial branch.  We are an organization of more than 500 California judges. We have become a powerful and meaningful voice to independently advocate on behalf of judges and communicate with the public, media, and executive and legislative branches of our state government.  We offer positive and constructive comments on appropriate trial court management and prudent budgeting. Centralized court fiscal management and state facilities ownership was conceived to address funding inequities between the various counties.  It was implemented during a time California enjoyed an unprecedented era of financial stability and significant revenue generation.  Before the end of the last decade, that changed for the worse. The Alliance is dedicated to restoring greater consensus and shared purpose within the California judiciary.  Our organization does not stand in opposition to any existing judicial group.  We are not advocating any ultimate budget outcome for our courts.  We are urging reaffirmation of the primacy of local trial court management as set forth  in Government Code section 77001, and full participation of our local trial courts in the critical budget and management decisions every court in California faces today.
